Your Morning Dump... Where the Celtics are highly interested in DeMarcus Cousins

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

Front-office sources say that Boston and Detroit, just to name two teams, have let it be known that they are highly interested if and when Cousins does become available. Rest assured there will be more.

Even after all the warnings about the 22-year-old coming out of Kentucky and all the bad shots he’s hoisted in Sacramento, where he doesn’t seem interested in listening to anyone and also suffers from the lack of a proven point guard who can make the game easier for him, Cousins will continue to draw considerable interest because there are so few young bigs these days with his size, skill and mobility.

News of the Celtics interest in DeMarcus Cousins is about as surprising as my interest in Olivia Munn or John’s interest in gin.

The next step in our blatant speculation is whether or not the Kings will move their tumultuous and talented big man. ESPN’s Chad Ford offered up this during a live chat:

Cousins new agent will be pushing hard for a trade. They, along with the rest of the NBA, think the Kings ownership/management is dysfunctional and they want him out of there. The problem for the Kings is that Cousins is their best player, but given his frequent issues with coaches/teammates, teams aren’t willing to give equal value back in return. In addition, I’m hearing that there’s a split between the GM and ownership on what they want in return. Do they get back established players and try to win now or do they want more young prospects/draft picks? In other words, it’s a giant mess ..

Our readers made it clear, they are not interested in offering up a package that includes Avery Bradley, Jared Sullinger and Fab Melo. Bradley has almost become an untouchable player. John doesn’t want any part of Cousins either, equating him to a steroid tainted needle (or something).

I want Cousins in Boston. I’d love to make a deal w/o giving up Bradley, but that’s not a deal breaker for me. Bill Simmons seems to think the C’s could come up with a package that excludes AB.

Hope you’re ready for about 6 more weeks of wild speculation and rumor.
