Kevin Garnett: “Not every city is like this”

kg chest bump

In a recent sit down interview with Greg Dickerson, Kevin Garnett discussed “the chant” from Game 6.  Part of what he said is in the headline.  Here’s more:

“It’s like someone told me at the gas station, ‘I’m a Celtic too.  This is my team, I was raised with this team,’ that’s pretty much what it is.  People feel like they are Celtics.  When you hurt, they hurt.  When you scream, you’re screaming for them.  When you’re applauding, and rooting, and going, they feel like they are empowering you.  I get it, I get it… it took me a minute, but I get it.”

After recent events, this comment made weeks ago is even more poignant.

The regular season ends tonight.  The Celtics will play 81 games instead of 82… the first time that will have ever happened in the NBA.  Then the focus turns to the New York Knicks.  And it’s a New York Knicks team dealing with the devastating, sudden retirement of one of its players.

WHAT ARE THEY GONNA DO WITHOUT SHEED???? CELTICS ARE GONNA SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPP!!!!!1!!

Seriously, though.  Enjoy the retirement, Sheed.  If I ever see you, I’ll get us a round of Bud Lights.
