Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
A league source told CSNNE.com that the biggest factor in Garnett’s return will be his health, and whether the perennial All-Star feels he can still compete at a level he is accustomed to.
“If his body isn’t where he wants it to be, Paul’s return is a moot point of discussion,” the source said.
Ainge said he has not spoken with Garnett or his representatives about the future Hall of Famer’s future, nor have Ainge and the C’s made a decision on whether Pierce will be back, bought out, or traded.
The last word about Garnett’s health was that surgery would not be necessary to treat the bone spurs in his ankle.
As I’ve said before, KG can still be an impact player for 20-25 minutes per game. His leadership skills are irreplaceable. If Garnett can shake the nagging injuries that hampered him this season (and there’s no reason to believe he won’t recover), then I see him coming back for another season.
As for all the speculation about Paul Pierce, Danny Ainge offered this:
“Nothing surprises me,” Ainge told CSNNE.com. “I’ll just let speculation continue.”
Thanks, Danny.
I don’t believe Ainge knows what direction he will take on Paul Pierce.
He’s testing the trade market. If there’s an offer he can’t refuse, Ainge will pull the trigger.
I’m still hopeful the Celtics can buyout Pierce and find a creative way to re-sign him.
