Green admittedly is about to lose his security blanket in Garnett, who focused on empowering Green last season. When Garnett said Green had the potential to be one of the best players in the league, he was genuinely touched.
“They were big in my process. Just mentally Kev started me out to be a more vocally active type of player, a leader by action, not on his level, but in my own skin and my own way,” said Green. “I owe that to him for my growth in the game. He’s done a lot for me on and off the court. He’s a guy I looked to, who helped me to get to this position. A lot can be owed to him.”

Glad to hear that Jeff Green is ready for the baton because he really doesn’t have a choice.
At 26, he’s in the prime of his career. There’s no longer pressure to defer to Hall of Fame teammates. He’s going to play a lot more minutes and get a lot more opportunities.
The same goes for Rajon Rondo.
Call me a crazy Green-teamer, but I’m not convinced this team is doomed for failure next season.
While the roster is still a work in progress, it’s quite possible they win more regular season games than last year.
Yup, I said it.

The Herald’s Mark Murphy has an update on the team’s pursuit of Brazilian center Vitor Faverani:
League source confirms that Celts talking with Brazilian center Vitor Faverani. But as to whether deal is imminent, he said, “Not sure.”
Not so fast on Celtics’ talks with Faverani. Buyout would be involved. Team debating situation.
Is there room for Faverani on this roster? I count 3 power forwards (Sullinger, Humphries, Bass) and one center (Olynyk). Shavlik Randolph is on the fringe and Fab Melo is destined for Maine (again).
