Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
“[Meeting Rondo] was great. What an insightful, intelligent, neat person to sit down with,” Stevens said during an on-camera interview with WDRB Fox 41 in Louisville. “I’ve got a chance to meet a lot of his teammates because we were down at the summer league and some guys would come by, so it’s been great to meet him and the other teammates. I think it’s been a really good situation thus far. It’s been a little bit of a whirlwind for me.”
Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge has stressed that he has no intentions of trading Rondo this offseason and, asked at Rondo’s camp if he desired to have Rondo playing for him next season, Stevens added, “No question. Yeah, absolutely. And he is obviously one of the best point guards in the league and has been one of the best performers over the last … seven years. He’s had a terrific young career and I can’t wait to get working with him.”
Some media blowhards are overreacting to Brad Stevens’ visit to Rajon Rondo’s camp. The proudly ignorant Michael Felger called the action, “unseemly.”
Here’s a news flash to the uniformed: If KG and Paul Pierce were still on this roster, Stevens would have flown to Malibu to meet with both of them. That’s fact. Not fiction.
A new coach on any team would have done the exact same thing with his star players.

I hope you had the chance to watch CSNNE’s hour long tribute to Paul Pierce last night. It was a phenomenal look back at the Truth’s career.
One moment that struck a chord with me was Pierce’s in-game clash with Doc Rivers during the 2004-05 season. For all his personality deficiencies, I’ve never seen Rondo challenge Doc publicly. We were also reminded of Pierce’s immaturity in and after Game 7 of the 2005 playoff series with the Pacers.
I believe Pierce was close to Rondo’s age at the time. Imagine if the Celtics had jettisoned Pierce after those incidents?
The Celtics took out a full page ad in the Boston Globe, thanking KG and Pierce:
Classy move.
I didn’t see one for Doc Rivers. Maybe it’s in the Classifieds section under “Quitter for Hire.”
