Your Morning Dump… Where the Celtics would love to move Jordan Crawford

Jordan Crawford

Jordan Crawford

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

Boston appears to have a logjam at both the shooting guard and power forward positions.

While the C’s are believed to be open to trading most of the players on their current roster, a league source said the Celtics would “love” to move Jordan Crawford but have had little to no interest thus far.

Crawford is set to earn $2.1 million this season.

“Look at that their team?” the source said about the Celtics. “[Crawford] and MarShon Brooks are basically the same kind of player. No sense in keeping both of them around if you can help it.”

While the Celtics would ‘love’ to move Crawford, I think he’s near the bottom of Danny Ainge’s to-do list. Dumping Gerald Wallace and Kris Humphries are the priorities. I think any deal involving Wallace and Hump happens during the season, near the trade deadline.

Injuries during camp could force a team to trade for Crawford. It’s possible the Lakers’ management will wake from their delusional coma and accept the fact Kobe Bryant and his torn Achilles won’t be back on the court before January. We can only hope…

Something has to happen by August 1. ESPN’s Chris Forsberg sums it up:

Boston has 16 signed players and only Shavlik Randolph is on a nonguaranteed deal. His contract becomes fully guaranteed on Aug. 1, which could tip Boston’s hand if the next move doesn’t come before then. If Randolph is retained, then it’s likely another big will be moved before camp. If Randolph is released to free salary and a roster spot, it would appear the Celtics are not confident they can deal one of their other bigs.

I bet they waive Shav. Thanks for the memories.
