As expected, Shavlik Randolph has become a victim of the numbers game.
Shavlik Randolph told ESPN the Boston Celtics have informed him they are not picking up his option.

This is the shitty business side of things, folks. Shavlik Randolph played well in his role and is a very hard worker that could prove to be a solid, cheap contributor. Meanwhile, the Celtics have 24 shooting guards right now, but because Jordan Crawford has a guaranteed $2.1 million, an erratic, volume scorer get will get to stay (for now).
The Celtics did add size they didn’t have last years, which also made Randolph a little more expendable. Kelly Olynyk will get those minutes, as will a healthy Jared Sullinger. Vitor Faverani will probably get a shot too.
It’s possible he’ll get a camp invite if other teams pass on him. I think he’s done enough with his chance in Boston to get a look somewhere in the NBA when camp rolls around.
