The news around the NHL is entirely focused on Ilya Kovalchuk and his rejected contract, but the Blues made a huge majority of their fans very happy today by signing David Perron to a new two-year deal.

Welcome back David Perron. The dynamic forward has agreed today to a new deal with the St. Louis Blues, which he announced over his Twitter account.

Perron stated he is extremely excited to be back and thanks all the fans for their support.

One of the most active hockey players on Twitter, Perron is very engaging to all the fans that love him on the ice.

Perron is just 22-years-old but has already shown St. Louis just how talented he is, as evidenced by the incredible goal he scored against the New York Islanders. The 2009-10 season saw the youngster set a new career-high in goals (20) and shots (166) in 2009-10.

Perron played it safe and signed a deal 15 years shorter than the one rejected by the NHL some hours ago. (sarcasm)
