As we wind down another season of Boston Celtics basketball, I’d like to put the spotlight on another great Celtics blog. CelticsFr is a great site created by and for members of CelticsNation France.
The site was founded by 23 yr old Elian Kuhn, who resides in Lyon, France, which is located about 300 miles south of Paris. Elian says his main motivation behind the site was to enable Celtics fans in France to find all of their Celtics news in one place. The guys who run the site also spend a lot of their free time translating different Celtics articles from around the web from English to French. Google Translate works wonders, but quite a few things still can be lost in translation.
CelticsFR has a great team of young writers. Founder Elian shares the writing duties with Leo, Louis and Maximilien. Each writer brings their own unique style to the blog and despite being across the pond, these guys always have their finger on the pulse of CelticsNation.
Leo, whom I’ve been interacting with for a couple of years now via Twitter, summed up why the site and being a part of the best fan base in the world is so important to him:
In January 2012, I had some personal issues and I discovered Elian’s blog about the Celtics. I knew I was going to have a lot of time to help him, and I think celticsfr helped me going through this stuff in a big way. Now, the C’s are part of my life as I read each and every day news about them and watch almost all of the games. Plus, blogging about them and knowing that a few hundreds (if not thousands) of French-speaking people read your stuff is motivating and makes you really proud. Unfortunately, I’ve never been to Boston but still, I can be either really thrilled or deeply sad depending on the team’s results. I just bleed green.
I want to thank Leo and all the guys from CelticsFR for participating in Fan Friday. Be sure to follow their group Twitter, as well their individual handles via the links above, and check out their Facebook page. Thank you all for reading! -KWAPT
