C’s target Gordon Hayward might get max offer from Cavs

GHRR

There are multiple reports that the Cleveland Cavaliers are meeting with Utah UFA Gordon Hayward and preparing to make a hefty offer.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst says its a max offer:

What’s the max for Hayward, you ask?

Holy crap. That type of money makes Jeff Green look like a bargain.

Green and Hayward have similar stats (except for the fact that Green has plateaued and Hayward is on the rise).

If Green has a kick-ass season, he might be tempted to opt-out of the final year of his deal and seek a raise in free agency.

Jose3030 uncovered this gem from February. Hayward was asked to name his favorite and least favorite cities in the NBA:

Least favorite, I would say, like, especially since I’ve been in the league, probably Cleveland. Cleveland to me is like Gotham City. It’s, like, so dreary, and just, I don’t know, and then ever since LeBron [James] left, I mean, the fans, they’re starting to pick up a little bit more, but I remember my rookie year, there was hardly anybody there.

Ouch. He might have 63 million reasons to change his mind.
