There have been a few reports this off-season about the Celtics interest in Kent Bazemore. I’ll come clean and admit that I don’t know a damn thing about this guy.
Turns out… Bazemore is a 6-5, 205 lb shooting guard who went undrafted in 2012 after spending 4 years at Old Dominion. He bounced between the D league and the Warriors for a year and a half before being shipped to the Lakers in the Steve Blake/MarShon Brooks trade.
Bazemore made the most of his opportunity in LA, averaging 13 ppg and 37% 3-FG in 28 games. Read his ESPN LA Lakers player review and you’ll learn he’s an athletic, high-energy guy. Watch this chase down block for reinforcement.
Is he a fit in Boston? Rajon Rondo, Avery Bradley and Marcus Smart have locks on three back court spots. James Young will also see time at shooting guard.
Phil Pressey remains in the mix. The Celtics have until July 15 to guarantee his contract. And lets not forget about swingman Chris Johnson who impressed us last season with his hustle and three-point shooting.
For what it’s worth, David Aldridge is still linking Boston to Isaiah Thomas.
It’s safe to assume the Celtics roster remains fluid.
And for those in need of a Kevin Love fix, check out Ben Rohrbach’s creative trade scenario that involves Boston, Utah and Minnesota.
