Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
With two months to process the change of address, Zeller expressed excitement to be with the Celtics. In fact, he used the word “excited” nine times during a nine-minute Q&A with reporters, particularly when referencing a partnership with head coach Brad Stevens.
“I know Coach Stevens is a very intelligent basketball coach; his basketball IQ is kinda off the charts, so I’m very excited,” said Zeller. “And working him the past few weeks, everything has been very exciting, just to see his basketball knowledge and just how detailed he is.”
ESPN Boston: Zeller eager to earn starting center role
“There were rumors all year about a million different things going on,” Zeller said. “I know at the trade deadline there were talks of being traded then. It’s one of those things playing in the NBA, you have to be prepared for it at any time and you have to do your best so here we are. I’m excited to be here. It’s a great opportunity.”
CSNNE: Zeller looking to earn spot in C’s starting lineup
Hey, I’d be excited to be moving out of Cleveland and into Boston too, even if I was just switching sanitation departments.
Like I said yesterday, I think Zeller gets every chance to win the starting job, and in a quick poll (only answered by 79 people at this point), 72% of you think he will end up doing just that.
Maybe that’s because aside from Vitor, he’s the only guy whose natural position truly is the 5. I’d prefer to keep Olynyk and Sullinger out of that spot to start, even though I really want to see the Olynyk, Sullinger, Rondo dynamic mature on the court. That would be more of a matchup-based lineup, though, and not one you toss out just to start every game.
Or maybe that’s what it will always be this year… a matchup-based starting 5. Assuming the guys mostly play the proper amount of minutes, who starts is largely overrated so long as the starting lineup on any given night can set the proper tone and get you a lead. Yes, it would be nice to have a set starting 5 so guys can settle into their roles, but on this team, in this situation, that’s less important than trying to maximize the matchup if any sort of mismatch at any position presents itself.
So we’ll see about Zeller. I’m excited to see what this kid can do.
Page 2: Dwight Howard is a shitty driver
Dwight Howard‘s Florida driver’s license has been suspended after he failed to pay a ticket for running a red light, Reuters reported, citing court records.
Howard was ticketed 10 times for running red lights in the Orlando area, and received four speeding tickets, 12 citations for failing to pay highway tolls and one citation for failing to change his address on his driver’s license, according to the report. All the violations are civil traffic infractions.
Howard’s license has been suspended since at least Aug. 15 after he failed to pay $285 for an April violation in Winter Park, Reuters reported, although the rest of the cases have been resolved.
ESPN: Dwight Howard’s license suspended
I remember when Dwight was drafted out of high school and all the talk was about how he was a good Christian boy who was more mature than most his age and ready to handle the man’s world of the NBA.
Since then, he’s been proven to be anything but. He’s one of the leagues most immature characters who, along with sulking and pouting his way out of Orlando (after inexplicably opting IN to a contract he could have terminated), he’s rumored to have fathered multiple children with multiple women a la Shawn Kemp, and is now exposed as a terror on the road.
$10 says this guy blows all his money by the time he’s 50, and on stupid things like building a Candy Land theme park somewhere.
And Finally…
For all you comic book fans out there, Punisher fanatic Tim Duncan will be featured in one of the upcoming comics. Our friends at Project Spurs shared this
