Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
In an interview with Comcast SportsNet following the game, Sullinger said, “I’m just trying to play hard. We had a slow start to the first quarter. We had to understand it was four less minutes tonight so we didn’t have as much time to comeback.”
Sullinger “Just Trying To Play Hard Vs Nets”-CSNNE
Jared Sullinger is off to a great start thus far in the preseason, which ends on Wednesday night. Sully had another big game last night, albeit against a Nets team without KG or Brook Lopez. Sullinger or “Lovenger” as John calls him, racked up an impressive line of 21 points and 19 rebounds in 29 minutes. He also went 3 of 5 from beyond the arc. Sullinger now has averages of 15 points and 10 rebounds over 7 preseason games.
Sully worked hard in the off season with the goal being to come into camp in good shape. More specifically he focused on endurance and conditioning. There is no doubt how productive he can be with his big body, soft touch and bruising presence under the rim, but if he can get himself (and stay) in tip-top physical shape, sky could be the limit.
I know that’s a lot to ask, and probably not 100% realistic, but I believe Sully can stay in shape if he just continues to work hard & stay focused.
Brad Stevens said after last night’s win in Brooklyn that he intends on getting Sullinger as many minutes as possible. Not sure if that will also be the case when the regular season starts next week, but I’m sure Jared won’t argue if it is. Sully is a baller, plain and simple-the kid loves to play. It shows.
“He was good,” said Celtics head coach Brad Stevens. “I want him to play as many minutes as he can right now. It’s good for him. He’s playing well. Hopefully he can continue.”
Hopefully indeed. Here are all the highlights from Sully’s double-double yesterday afternoon courtesy of OfficialCelticsHD:
