Surgery for Pietrangelo Deemed Minor

Surgery for Pietrangelo Deemed Minor

Alex Pietrangelo
As seen in a report by NHL.com, star defenseman Alex Pietrangelo is set to have minor surgery to correct a “lower-body injury” that he suffered at some stage of the team’s 2011-12 playoff run. Thankfully, Pietrangelo is expected to be ready for training camp when the Blues get things started on September 21st, assuming a new bargaining agreement has been reached.

The words “Surgery” and “Pietrangelo” are pretty frightening. They’re almost as alarming as the words “Blues player” and “Golf cart”.

In all seriousness, Pietrangelo’s procedure is quite minor. We don’t have much information to go off of outside of the very basic lower-body analysis, but it is assumed the operation is not connected to the knee Pietrangelo injured against the Kings. It’s thought the surgery is focused on a different area but it’s unclear what area that is at this time.

Rough estimations suggested he might miss two weeks which would place him at 100% around the middle of September. With camp set to open on the 21st (knock on wood), Pietrangelo should be set to go as things gear up for the 2012-13 season (again, knock on wood).
