Your Morning Dump… Where Rondo and Zeller have that lovin’ feeling

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

The result was a career-high 24 points on 10-for-11 shooting by Zeller in his fourth straight start. He also grabbed 14 rebounds.

Celtics coach Brad Stevens, who continues to base his big-man decisions on matchups, isn’t ready to permanently anoint Zeller as the starter.

Then again, the coach said, “I’m not going to change my lineup by tomorrow.”

Rondo probably would second that decision.

“He has great hands,” Rondo said about Zeller. “He out-runs his big every night on the floor, and I try to reward him every night I get the chance. His hand-and-eye coordination is great, so I try to find him.

“He has great touch as well,” Rondo added. “He uses both hands. He knows how to put his body in front of his defender and make the shot. He gets into the right seams where I can find him, and he always has his hands ready.”

Zeller smiled quietly.

“It’s just one of those things where the more I play with him the easier it gets,” Zeller said about Rondo. “Everybody knows he’s a phenomenal passer, somebody that’s going to find the right guy, the open guy and tonight it was me, other nights it’s been other guys, so we just continue to work together and try to get somebody open on our team.”

Rondo and Zeller?

If I’m Tyler Zeller, I follow Rondo for the rest of his career. The chemistry between this two guys is remarkable and best of all, no one saw it coming. But this is what you get when you mix pin-point passing with soft hands and touch.

My favorite stat from last night’s blowout at the Garden (and no, it’s not the 14 beers John drank during the game) is Rondo’s +40 and Zeller’s +39.

Let’s hope this duo never loses that lovin’ feeling.

At 13-5, the Wizards are 2nd in the East. Pierce is playing his role well: 12.5 ppg, 4.9 rpg in about 25 minutes.
