Lance Stephenson probably deserved Rondo’s elbow in his neck

Lance Stephenson may be playing like crap (10 ppg, 38%FG, 15% 3Fg), but his showboating and flopping skills are in top form.

Jay’s video reveals the entire incident which started with Stephenson chopping Rajon Rondo’s arm, who promptly retaliated with a forearm to the chest. Forty-five seconds later, Rondo delivered an elbow into Stephenson’s neck, who responded with some sort of awkward jab to Rondo’s face.

Here’s what Rajon had to say about the encounter, courtesy Jay King:

Rondo on elbow to Stephenson: “He weighs about 60 more pounds than me. I don’t think I was that strong on that play to knock him down.”

Asked about what happened, Rondo initially said, “Nothing at all. I said something to him and I didn’t know what I said could get a tech.”

Pressed on the elbow, the Celtics guard obviously implied Stephenson took a dive.

“He weighs about 60 more pounds than me, but that’s part of his game,” Rondo said.

“The game is contact. The game we play is contact. Whatever you saw, I don’t know,” he added. “I am strong. But I don’t think I was that strong on that play in particular to knock him down.”

Let’s hope the league forgets about this incident and no further discipline is required.
