Recap: Raptors toy with Celtics

It was a bit difficult to go from the heart-pounding finish of the Patriots/Ravens game to the mind-numbing Celtics play in Toronto, but that’s why I’m here: to report back on the hot garbage so you don’t have to witness it with your own eyes.

The Raptors beat the Celtics 109-96 in a game that was never this close (at least in the second half). Sure, the Celtics cut into the double-digit lead a few times, but whenever the Raptors want to crank up the intensity, they did.

Trade Update: It’s rumored the Celtics are trying to flip Austin Rivers to the Clippers for a 2nd round pick.

The Green

Kelly Olynyk’s stat line: 23 points, 8-11 FG, 2-4 3 FG. But his -7 was a true indicator of his impact. Just a lost soul on defense. I like Brian Scalabrine’s insight as a color analyst, but his idea that Olynyk should play the 3 is absurd. There isn’t a wing in the NBA or D-League that Olynyk can guard.

The Gross

The entire 3rd quarter was a debacle. Toronto outscored Boston 35-22. The Celtics looked like a stumbling, bumbling bunch of fools incapable of catching a pass or defending anyone.
