Langenbrunner Out Indefinitely Due to Hip Surgery

Jamie Langenbrunner’s season likely just came to an end. The St. Louis Blues announced that Langenbrunner would undergo hip surgery, sidelining the veteran indefinitely. While no one has officially ruled Langenbrunner out for the season, the recovery time for this sort of procedure usually takes five to six months. It’s almost a certainty that Langenbrunner’s 2013 is over, but is his career about to end as well?

After playing in just four games in 2013, Langenbrunner is done for the year, barring a miraculous recovery from a torn labrum in his left hip.

Is this the end to Langenbrunner’s NHL career? It’s a possibility. At 37, Langenbrunner is set to be a free agent after the 2013 season. Even prior to the injury, Langenbrunner had assumed a role of a part-time player that was scratched regularly on a deep St. Louis roster. Now, Langenbrunner will undergo surgery, then go through his recovery before answering any questions about his future in the NHL.
