Kevin Garnett has waived his no-trade clause and will return to the Minnesota Timberwolves, according to a report from David Aldridge. The stunning development, which came to light Wednesday night and was confirmed less than a half hour before the trade deadline, sends the Big Ticket back to where he began his career as a skinny kid out of high school. In exchange for KG, the Brooklyn Nets receive Thaddeus Young, according to Aldridge.

Garnett is one of those players you hate as an opponent, but instantly love when he joins your team. No doubt many Celtics fans wish he could have returned to Boston, but most would probably agree that the TWolves deserve to have him back, too. The future Hall of Famer is loyal to the place he calls ‘Sota, so it’s fitting that he will perhaps play out the remainder of his career there, while mentoring Andrew Wiggins, Zach LaVine and Minny’s other youngsters.

The only bad news is that the Timberwolves have already made their one visit to Boston this season. Maybe we’ll see Kevin one more time next year.
