Celtics nations is huge. Massive. Global.
We are everywhere, which sometimes makes watching games difficult. How many times has this happened to you…
You live within the local Boston television market, but you’re away on vacation or out-of-town for work. You don’t have League Pass because you get to watch all the C’s games you want, but here you are, away from Boston, and stuck. Looks like you’re either missing the game, or you’re digging through the internet for a buggy illegal feed.
Or…
You’re a League Pass subscriber, and the playoffs are here. You’re away from home on work or play, and you can’t find NBA TV ANYWHERE to catch that Celtics-Hawks game. After paying all year to catch games, you’re suddenly stuck.
Well, you won’t be stuck anymore with Slingbox. Slingbox lets you watch the games from anywhere you are: from the office/cube, in the garage, waiting for the kids, in another room in the house, in a hotel room, even out of the country. Here’s my set up:
This is the Slingbox M1. It’s $149.99. It’s not intrusive at all, as you can see from this picture below:
It connects to your cable box and lets you control your TV or DVR from anywhere. So even if it’s not a game night, you can fire up your DVR from wherever you are and, after downloading the app to your desktop or mobile device (it’s $14.99 for the app) and that’s it. After that, there’s no monthly fee, no nothing. It runs off WiFi and it gives you full control of your cable box just like you were home.
I’ve only gotten to play with it a little bit. The set up was easy enough, but I would recommend setting it up on a secondary TV if you live with someone else because, like I’ve said, this controls your set. Change it on the Slingbox, and the channel changes at home. You really are watching your own television, with all of your own cable channels and DVR.
The only current downside to the M1 is that you can’t watch it through the a chrome browser plug-in. So you can’t watch it surreptitiously at work without installing the actual player on your computer.
The good side to all of this is it comes with a 30-day money back guarantee. If you read this, like it, buy it, and it’s not what you thought… then you return it and get your money back.
But, if you’re constantly on the go and you’re sick of missing out on Celtics or national TV games because you don’t have League Pass or LP doesn’t carry it, then this is a good solution.
