Source: Kevin Love’s labrum tore away from the bone, and will need 4-6 weeks, minimum, to heal. If it doesn’t, surgery a possibility.

To be clear, source adds: There’s virtually zero chance Love plays again this postseason, even if Cavs make the Finals. — Howard Beck (@HowardBeck) April 28, 2015

Ouch.
That really is a shame. Forget about your LeBron bias for a minute (or your newfound Love bias, if that applies)… this guy left a perennial loser for a chance at the playoffs and it’s all over in 4 games. That’s sad to see. I feel really bad for the guy.
Of course, this news has reopened the Cleveland fan assault on Kelly Olynyk, who I maintain did nothing more than try to hold and foul Love to prevent a break with disastrous consequences.
Awful news for Kevin Love but not an outlier w/his physical history. He has been Andrew Bogut-esque when it comes to odd/untimely injuries.

…And I call this injury “odd” because it’s the result of a play that occurs 50 times every time an NBA game is played.

People see this play more than they think, but they glance past it because it so rarely ends in this kind of injury.
The next question for Love after he recovers is… will he still test free agency, or will he return to the Cavs to finish some of his business. He had a bad year, but he’s still got a lot of good years under his belt, so I’m not sure this will HURT his free agency a lot. But it’s harder now to say what he might be thinking as far as becoming a free agent.
