Paul Pierce has agreed to a three-year contract worth approximately $10.5 million with the Los Angeles Clippers, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
The deal includes a player option for the third season, sources said.
Well, it happened a year later than I thought it would, but Paul Pierce has committed to the Clippers for the next three years, effectively choosing to end his career competing for a title in his hometown Los Angeles.
There were some rumors about Pierce coming back to his adopted home, but I never put much stock in that. Pierce was never really looking to come back here to play. Maybe he’ll come back to be part of the organization someday, but he’ll be playing out his time in Los Angeles.
I’d be surprised if Pierce plays out this whole deal. I never took his retirement talk too seriously, but he’s still at the end of the line. But who knows, maybe he’s got a season or two left.
