Marcus Smart’s injury didn’t look good (see for yourself, if you dare). But after being diagnosed with nothing worse than a pair of dislocations, the timetable for his return to basketball activities is pretty good.
The dislocated right index and middle fingers injury suffered by Marcus Smart in Las Vegas should heal in time to allow the 6-foot-4-inch guard to resume basketball-related activities by “mid-August at the latest,” according to a league source.
If there’s a plus side to a key piece of the Celtics’ future getting hurt, it’s that it happened at a pretty good time. Smart’s been working hard this offseason, so a few weeks of vacation before getting back into it won’t be so bad.
