Enemy Chatter: Kelly’s Olynyk’s ‘Dirk’ move is cold blooded

We often wonder what opposing teams, their beat reporters and bloggers are saying about the Celtics. Here’s a look at some enemy chatter from Dallas.

After the game, Nowitzki was asked about Olynyk stealing his move.

“That was cold-blooded,” said Nowitzki, who suggested he heard an assistant coach shout that a one-footed ISO might be coming as Olynyk began to attack. “But it looked pretty good, and it almost went in. So I was a little fortunate there.”

What did Nowitzki say to Olynyk after the play?

“I said, ‘Don’t give me my own move,'” Nowitzki said with a laugh.

Good advanced scouting by the Mavs but even when you know that move is coming it’s impossible to stop. Of course you have to make it and Kelly did not.

Dirk is just so cool. He’s the complete opposite of Mr. Try Hard in Cleveland.

On Page 2, Mark Cuban says Dallas is a better sports town than Boston.

Give Mark Cuban credit for his passion, but his bias may have clouded his clear thinking before Wednesday’s game when he was asked which is the better sports town, Boston or Dallas.

“Dallas,” he said, without hesitation. “When teams are winning and you have a team in the Super Bowl that kind of amplifies it. But I’ll take Dallas every time. Boston’s a great city. They got a rich sports history. But a lot of that is built in history. The Mavs [and Cowboys, Stars and Rangers] are relatively new. Our fans don’t have the legacy tickets passed down generations. So I think our fans have a little more younger energy and spirit for the teams.”

Oh Cubes, you’re one funny bastard.

He’s right, Boston does have a rich sports history. Boston also has a rich sports present.
