As we noted yesterday, the NBA rumor season is officially upon us. They came out of the box strong with a Celtics-involved Boogie Cousins rumor.
Today, those rumors are being categorically squashed
We suggest holding off on DeMarcus Cousins to Boston rumors until the teams have at least, you know, one conversation about it… None yet.

Was told this as well. Kings’ Vlade Divac indicated phones not ringing off hook, nor is Cousins going anywhere https://t.co/wp4OJc5aCA

I’m just guessing about this based on what I’ve seen in the past… but I’m guessing yesterday’s source came from Sacramento itself somehow. Sure, maybe there IS interest from a few teams, but I’ve got interest is keeping Gisele company when Tom Brady is on the road… where’s that gonna get me?
The Kings, through whatever back-channel, could float some things out there to see what teams might be willing to hand over for Cousins. They have plausible deniability because it probably wasn’t Vlade spilling secrets on a smoke break. The Celtics have proven that they can keep their secrets actually secret if they wanted, and I doubt any other team with interest would want to spark a bidding war by blabbing to a writer.
No, this probably came from the Sacto side in an effort to gauge interest. This whole dance is only just starting, and I don’t trust the Kings to handle this with any sort of class or decorum because their organization is pretty terrible. So while the Celtics may not have had, and may never have, any meetings when it comes to Cousins… the saga surrounding him is in no way quieting down over the next couple of months.
