The Blues have signed Jake Allen to a two-year contract. The deal, as explained by Jeremy Rutherford, will be of the two-way variety in 2013-14 and of the one-way variety in 2014-15. Allen will earn $125,000 if he's in the AHL this season and $750,000 if he's in the NHL. In 2014-15, Allen will earn $850,000.
The goaltending trio in St. Louis is complete.
It might be finally time to close the door on all of the goaltending rumors in St. Louis. Based on Allen's new deal which will allow him to be in the AHL in 2013-14, it looks pretty certain that the team will run with Jaroslav Halak as their #1, Brian Elliott as their #1A or #2 and Allen as their #3 in Chicago.
Allen played a prominent role last season for the Blues when Halak went down with an injury and Elliott looked lost in the crease. In his rookie season, Allen went 9-4-0 with a 2.46 GAA and a save percentage of .905.
