Ready for a Stanley Cup prediction? Of course you are. It’s August and there’s not much to talk about. The Hockey News has made their predictions for the 2013-14 season and they’ve selected the St. Louis Blues as their next Stanley Cup champion.
This is dreadful news if you’re a firm believer in jinxes. If you’re not, this is the type of story where you may say “That’s interesting” before carrying on with your day.
This isn’t the first time I’ve talked about the fact plenty of sources are rallying around the Blues before the season begins. Vegas already gave the Blues the fourth highest odds to hoist the Cup and other members of the media have picked the Blues as at least a Stanley Cup participant. Now The Hockey News has the Blues as their Cup champ.
As always, I’d recommend steering clear of reading too far into any preseason predictions. Remember when one certain writer ranked the Edmonton Oilers third overall before 2012-13? Exactly.
