Recap: IT’s 37 can’t carry Boston past struggling Pels

In a game that Boston “should” win, the Celtics get 37 from IT but still fall short. The now 2-9 Pelicans beat Boston tonight 106-105.

The Celtics trailed for most of the night, and really had no answer for Anthony Davis. Davis, who is recovering from a back injury, scored 25 points, and lived at the free throw line. Davis went 11 of 13 from the stripe, and the Pelicans took a whopping 36 free throws in total.

Boston was once again without both Al Horford and Jae Crowder, but still could have & should have won this game. They simply could not put any distance between themselves and New Orleans in the final quarter or ever for that matter.

Celts were ahead 102-100 after IT nailed a three with 1:57 left, but missed threes, fouls & FTs doomed Boston the rest of the way. Langston Galloway (21 pts) and the rest of the Pels’ bench torched Boston for 57 points. New Orleans was the more aggressive team, getting to the line often as mentioned above. The Celts meanwhile once again shot themselves in the proverbial foot by going 12 of 41 from long range.

The C’s head back to Boston to face the Mavs on Wednesday. Al Horford is scheduled to practice with the team tomorrow, and no word/update on Crowder as of this post.
