I often wonder what opposing teams, their beat reporters
and bloggers are saying about the Celtics after playing the Celtics.
Here's a dose of 'enemy chatter' from Miami.
Why didn't the Heat foul Pierce?
“We
thought about it,'' coach Erik Spoelstra would say later.
The in-bounds pass was with 11.7 seconds left. It went straight to
Pierce. The Heat had a foul to give. And yet Miami chose to guard Pierce
loosely, and gamble that Boston's best shooter would fail.
Miami gave Pierce an open look.
That's a little
like giving Usain Bolt a head start.
Miami Herald – Heart-breaking loss signals end to Heat's run
wasn’t even a matter of shooting one to many three pointers. With eleven
attempted and only three converted for the game, Wade had no business
pulling up for one at the top of the key, Ray Allen-style. The Celtics
did a great job all series containing him without allowing him to wrack
up numbers with free throws. But Michael Beasley and Dorell Wright were
having solid games and Udonis Haslem, although he missed crucial late
free throws this time, has proven all season long that he can be counted
on when the game is on the line with his midrange jumper. There was
plenty of time on the shot clock so why not just pass the ball around to
see if Wade couldn’t get a good look at the basket?
Not only did the Celtics take Game 3, but they also took the heart, soul and spirit of the Heat players, fans, media and bloggers.
Well done, gentlemen.
