This Celtics team has balls, huh? After taking Game 1, they take Dwight Howard's best cheap shot and still beat the Magic in Game 2.
After Paul Pierce (28 points, 5 reb, 5 assists) nailed two free throws to put the Celtics up 95-92 with 34 seconds left, Vince Carter (16 points, 5-15 FG) bricked a pair with 30 seconds left and that turned out to be the difference in the game (and likely the series).
Can someone research the series records of a road team that goes up 2-0 in the Eastern Conference Finals?
Rondo was brilliant, yet again - 46 minutes, 25 points, 10-16 FG, 8 assists. Is there any doubt he's a Top 5, screw it, Top 3 point guard in the game?
If you watch the video clip above, you'll see Dwight Howard's vicious Flagrant 1 foul on Paul Pierce in the second quarter. Mikael Pietrus also raked Pierce on the play. I understand playoff fouls, but this was a cheap shot at Pierce's head.
Glen Davis had 8 points, 6 rebounds (2 charges taken) in 28 energy packed minutes. A fantastic effort.
The Celtics won despite getting little from Ray Allen (4 points, 1-6 FG).
Rashard Lewis had just 5 points in 41 minutes. There may be a reason for his lethargic play. ESPN's John Hollinger reported that Lewis is battling the flu.
Is there a coach who shows up his players more than Stan Van Gundy? His gestures on the bench would piss me off as a player.
"The Celtics look bigger, stronger, and faster than us at almost every
position…especially at point guard." – Mighty Mouth of Orlando Pinstriped Post.
Want a good laugh? Read the comments in that thread about VC choking on those free throws. Bahahahaha!
