Today is Tommy Heinsohn's 76th birthday and earlier this month Bob Cousy celebrated his 82nd birthday. As a tribute to two of the greatest Celtics (and NBA players) of all time, I have posted Game 6 of the 1963 NBA Finals. The Celtics defeated the Lakers in six games, at the old LA Sports Arena to capture their sixth NBA championship, fifth consecutive and sixth in seven seasons.
This is Bob Cousy's final game as a professional NBA player. We won't count his brief comeback attempt at age 41 with the Cincinnati Royals when he only played in 7 games. In this game, Cooz sprains his ankle but returns to help lead the Celtics to the 112-109 victory. One of the best parts of the game is the post-game interview with Cooz and Red Auerbach. Red is in prime form during the interview praising Cousy and talking smack about the Lakers.
