I know a couple of things from this Sunday's practice. Delonte West smoked Von Wafer over and over again… prompting words to be exchanged. (Delonte wins with his "do something about it" STFU moment).
And Shaq twirled the local scribes around his finger once again by holding court and revealing some of the new tricks he might have up his sleeve… including dressing as a woman (stories from ESPN Boston (excerpt below), WEEI and the Herald) and calling himself "Shaquita".
Reminded that next week is Halloween, O'Neal expanded on the train idea, saying he'd board the train while dressed like a woman he dubbed, "Shaquita." Shaq said he (errr, she) might only ride one stop, but would get dolled up in wig and dress, while accentuating his (err, her) assets. To provide the visual, O'Neal stood up, puffed out the chest area of his practice jersey, and playfully chased the reporter who offered the original train suggestion, calling his name in a female voice.
Don't take that as a knock on the local media. I'd kill for a chance to fawn over Shaq and his antics. I want Shaq chasing me around in his girl voice (…. that might have come out wrong…). His antics have been fun. And his performance has been just what the Celtics need. Nothing mind-blowing… just solid stuff in limited minutes. The kind of performance befitting a 38 year-old former superstar.
I'm looking forward to what's next… especially if it means he includes dropping LeBron on his insanely-padded wallet the first time he ventures into the lane Tuesday night.
Hey LeBron… you know that IS happening, right?
Yeah… it's happening.
