Was it worth it…?

Here’s KWAPT’s postgame diary:

Whew. Just got in from a frenzied night at the Garden. I really enjoyed myself tonight. There was alot of discussion amongst myself and my friends & fellow bloggers this week about the hype surrounding this game. Would it, or could it live up? Will it be worth the steep price of admission non-season ticket holders like myself would have to pay..? Well, in my opinion, it was worth every penny.

Travis of GinosJungle.com and myself were fortunate enough to have passes to get in an hour before the general public. Walking-in and seeing all the green t-shirts on the seats was just spectacular. That is one thing about Opening Night that I love every year.

We then made our way down by the Celtics bench where a few of the players were shooting around. We ran into Chris Forsberg, BRobb of CelticsHub, Jimmy Toscano and a friend of mine from the Japanese media, Daisuke Sugiura. It was at this point that the media started to trickle in, and we realized just how many of them there were.

We saw folks from ESPN, CNN, and B.Robb told us that up in the promenade or “halo” section there were 100’s more members of what seemed every media outlet in the world.

So as the crowd started to make it’s way in, we headed to our seats. We saw the lovely and talented Kristine Leahy on the way and gracious as ever, she stopped, said hello, and posed for a pic with a few of us.

Travis and I were seated in different sections, and the folks that sat directly to my right drove all the way from Canada to see the game. Very impressive. They got on the air with me during 2ManGame also.

All in all, tonight was just a great night. The crowd was good, the Celtics were better and I got to catch up with alot of folks I had not seen since The Finals. There is just something about the Garden that keeps me coming back-through good Celtics teams and not-so-good Celtics teams.

Maybe it’s the tradition-all the banners hanging from the rafters, seeing guys like John Havlicek, Tommy Heinsohn and Danny Ainge showing-up. Or maybe it’s just the great camaraderie that makes CelticsNation so strong. There’s just a certain bond you feel with everyone else in that building from the tip-off to the final buzzer.

Whatever it is, I like it. I like it alot. I am really looking forward to this coming season. It will bring new friends, new memories and hopefully, new hardware.
