Blues add more depth, sign Peter Mueller

The St. Louis Blues added even more offensive depth, signing Peter Mueller to a one-year, two-way contract. Mueller most recently skated in Switzerland, scoring 24 goals and 22 assists in 49 games. Prior to that, Mueller spent time with Florida, Colorado and Arizona (Phoenix).

Mueller has had a ton of issues with injuries during his career (specifically concussions), but he has looked a bit more healthy over the last two seasons. He hasn’t skated in more than 50 games since 2009-10, so there are going to be questions about his durability.

Injury issues aside, Mueller is a great signing by the Blues. The deal is of the two-way variety which means the Blues have yet another player who can compete for a job at the NHL level (like Chris Butler) with the ability to slide down to the AHL. The deal is also one that has plenty of upside and very minimal downside. Financial details weren’t released, but it’s safe to say the Blues landed a skater who may be primed for a comeback year in his return to the NHL for a very small cost.
