Vladimir Tarasenko heeding advice, shooting more often

CMU

Heading into 2014-15, Vladimir Tarasenko was instructed to fire the puck more. This advice was obvious coming off of a 2013-14 which saw Tarasenko score 21 goals during the regular season and another four during the playoffs. Has Tarasenko followed through?

As with any article at this stage of the season, it’s early. With that in mind, Tarasenko is heeding that advice and is firing the puck at a much higher rate. Through five games, Tarasenko is averaging 4.8 shots per game and is 9th in the NHL with 24 total shots. That’s a drastic change over his average of 2.12 shots per game he maintained last year.

Summarized, good things happen when Tarasenko has the puck. Better things happen when he shoots the puck. The Blues have urged Tarasenko to be more selfish and so far he has done exactly that. He only has one goal so far this season, but that total should rise in a hurry if he maintains this rate.
