Kevin Garnett injured his surgically repaired right knee going up for a dunk against the Pistons. He clearly was in a lot of pain after coming off the court.
It looked a lot like the first knee injury that knocked KG out in that he hurt it on the way up… and he didn't want to put any weight on it after he came down.
We're still waiting for word on what it might be…. but I'll be honest… I don't like this one bit.
UPDATE: Sherrod Blakely tweets:
X-rays on KG came back negative. That means that there is no fracture. Will not return, obviously
Well… it's not a break. Now it's MRI time to see if there's any ligament damage.
UPDATE 2: CBS Sports reports:
Ken Berger reports a team spokesman for the Celtics confirmed the injury for KG is NOT the right knee, lower leg.
I changed the headline to reflect that… though I'm not 100% sold on this being something other than his knee. Call me skeptical if you want… I'm not gonna believe it until we get MRI results
UPDATE 3: C's radio play-by-play man Sean Grande tweets:
No fracture, MRI Thu for KG. Players indicating its not as bad as it looked.
That's most certainly the best news yet. The last 2 updates are certainly skewing towards the positive side.
UPDATE 4: Not the knee
CSNNE officially reports via Celtics that it is NOT KG's knee that was injured. It is a calf injury.
That is good news, right? Please let this be good new and not "ok, it's a calf injury, but it's a REALLY bad calf injury" news.
