Your Morning Dump… Where we’re watching out for Delonte’s Judo kick

ESPN Boston video

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

He also admitted that looks can be deceiving and he still has to remind himself about his limitations. Fortunately, the wrist has a way of prompting him.

"Even just trying to get up off the couch, you feel the pain," said West. "That reminds you real fast. Pain is a hell of a reminder."

The always affable West playfully joked with reporters about filling his time by watching videos to prevent any such reoccurrence of a wrist injury.

"I've been looking at like Karate masters on YouTube, honestly, learning how to fall — tuck and roll and all that, jump up and Judo kicks," said West, leaving reporters laughing throughout his brief session. "I don’t plan on breaking this thing any time soon, so cameramen on the baseline, watch out for the Judo kick."

ESPN Boston: Practice notes:  KG's absence continues

I love Delonte.

On a day where we waited some more for KG and we waited some more for Kendrick Perkins… it's nice to see Delonte out there at least doing something and being Delonte in the process.  Delonte is still a few weeks away, and he's still working through an extensive amount of rehab… including jamming his hand into a bucket full of rice to strengthen the wrist.

The team will be back to full strength before we know it (knock on wood)… and as frustrating as these games can be without some of these key players… better it happens now than later.

“He didn’t do anything live,” Rivers said. “We went pretty hard, so I didn’t want him out there in that. But he did the skeleton stuff and he did some running up and down. We did a lot of contact stuff and I didn’t want him to be a part of that.

“It was a good practice actually, but I knew we were going to do a lot of live hard stuff, and too many bodies, too many feet. I didn’t want him involved.”

Perkins did skeleton drills, running the floor and working on cuts. He said he still expects to return to full practice in a week and be back in games in three weeks.
“Another week and they’ll slowly put me in,” Perkins said. “I’m just anxious to get back out there … I know it’s in my best interests. So if they say one more week, I’ll go one more week.”

Globe:  Perkins sits out, expect to practice next week

I will repeat… no need to rush.

The Celtics are not going to take any chances.  I love Doc's quote… too many bodies… too many feet.  When it doesn't take quite as much to cause a setback… the Celtics won't take that chance.

Tick-tock… the injuries are healing.
