As always, take the word “report” with a grain of salt. With that being said, a recent report suggests the St. Louis Blues may have asked the Detroit Red Wings for permission to speak to Mike Babcock. It’s believed Babcock is considering all of his options and will decide by May 20th, but for now the list of teams interested in his services continues to grow and apparently now includes St. Louis.
Babcock considering St. Louis and San Jose, too. Both join Buffalo and Toronto in asking @DetroitRedWings permission to speak with him.

That’s a pretty interesting report considering the Blues’ plans for Ken Hitchcock haven’t been made public. However, should the report above prove to be true, it’s safe to say the Blues are done with Hitchcock even if the team isn’t able to land Babcock. Why would Hitchcock want to stick around if the team is barking up a different, yet strikingly similar tree?
