Yesterday we kicked off our GreenLight Madness tournament, seeding the top 64 plays from the second half of the season. After the first day of voting, it looks like Avery Bradley will have to continue shopping for peanut butter & jelly sandwiches.
As expected, Ray Allen's clutch three-pointer in Game 1 vs the New York Knicks destroyed Avery Bradley's jam session against the same Knicks, albeit in a meaningless regular season finale. Ray took home nearly 90% of the vote, moving on to the next round.
Today's matchup features the following matchup (I like to imagine that sentence to read like the original NBA Jam game, when just prior to tip-off the announcer screams: TONIGHT'S MATCHUP):
#2 Seed: Rondo to KG Alley-Oop (Game 1 vs the Knicks)
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiqEUGTNPUo]One of the most talked about plays during the early part of the playoffs, Doc Rivers works his magic yet again. Raise your hand if you were expecting that, at that point of the game. Yeah, I didn't think so either.
#63 Seed: Rondo and KG Runnin the Break: Houston we have Liftoff
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmuHW6idxDA]We saw this many times this season and this was one of very few good plays from one of the worst efforts of the season. Nonetheless, it always exerts a loud and quick "OOOOOH" from me when I see it. Even if I was at a bar and nobody else was paying attention.
