The Blues appeared to have two points secured against the Philadelphia Flyers after jumping out to a 3-0 lead. Four Flyers goals later, the Blues were again trying to figure out what went wrong. How did the team make so many consecutive mistakes to drop a result? Shouldn’t a team of their caliber be able to close out a game when leading by three?
Several players commented on the loss, but Magnus Paajarvi’s answer struck a chord which rings true across the lineup.

Bingo. The Blues seemingly turn off when they have a decent lead. They coast. They sit back. They aren’t thinking and sometimes it burns them. Some of the bad passes, positioning and decisions can only be explained by a total lack of thinking.
Almost every team is accused of failing to play a “full 60” or a “hard 60 minutes” but the Blues might be professionals on the topic. The differences, particularly over the last couple seasons, are night and day.
How can a team be so good so often and yet so bad, so uncoordinated in other instances?
