Your Morning Dump… Where Marquis Daniels is Lazarus

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

That left the player whom coach Doc Rivers calls Lazarus to not only start at small forward, but become one of three players to crack 27 minutes in the Celtics [team stats]’ 76-75 win.

“It’s like riding a bicycle — nothing changes, it’s still the same game,” said Daniels, for whom the last year has been anything but familiar ground.

“You just have to be ready for whatever situation you’re going to be in,” he said. “I’m trying hard to just get back. I’ve been in the system for awhile now, so I know pretty much what I have to know on this team. There’s stuff I have to remember, but that has helped a lot.”

For those unfamiliar with the Bible, Lazarus was raised from the dead by Jesus. It’s possible Marquis Daniels had some divine assistance in his return from this spinal injury.

Daniels sure looked comfortable on the court yesterday. I love his game. The effortless slashing. The defense. He does a little bit of everything. But… we all know the risk of injury his high.

Say it with me:

Marquis Daniels is healthy and will not get hurt this season.

On Page 2, E-Twuan Moore could be steal of the draft.

The Raptors will have to be satisfied with a moral victory, though, because four rookies and a barely second-year veteran helped the Celtics seal a 76-75 triumph. E’Twaun Moore, a second-round pick who may prove the steal of the 2011 draft, drained two jumpers down the stretch, and Greg Stiemsma, fresh from Sioux Falls of the NBADL, tipped in his own miss for the winning basket.

“You couldn’t ask for a better situation,’’ said Rivers, who used 13 players. “I could see the game getting closer with about seven minutes left. You could see they were making a run and I thought, ‘Well, this is a great time to call the young guys in to see if they could hold the lead and withstand their rush.’ You can see why we like E’Twaun.’’

“I was definitely confident,’’ Moore said. “I’m just telling myself I can come and play with these guys each and every day and just trying to stay humble and stay hungry.’’

Globe – Youngsters carry home the victory

It’s a tad early to speculate that Moore will amount to anything in the NBA. After watching him play against Toronto and in last week’s scrimmage, you have credit him for playing with confidence. Nearly all NBA players will say they are confident, but Moore is showing it.
