What's uglier – Rajon Rondo's new shiner or the offensive play by both teams in tonight's 91-89 Celtics victory?
The Knicks controlled (I use that term loosely) this game for 3 quarters. They were the more aggressive team on both sides of the ball. But as the Knicks energy level faded in the 4th, the Celtics awoke and made the big plays.
Offensively, the Celtics were offensive (40% FG, 17 TOs). It was a flashback to the first two weeks of the season. No rhythm at all.
I thought Paul Pierce (30 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists) beat the shot clock buzzer with 16 seconds remaining. If anything, the replay did not appear to be conclusive enough to overturn the call on the floor.
Ray Allen (14 points, 5 rebounds) salvaged a mediocre game with 9 points in the final 4 minutes. Previous to that stretch, he was the primary casualty of the awful offense. There's nothing worse than watching Ray over dribble.
Rajon Rondo played his first game in two weeks. He went 34 minutes and tallied 7 points, 7 assists and 5 turnovers. The black-eye was a result of some accidental contact while going for a loose ball in the 1st half.
Kevin Garnett had 11 of his 15 points in the 1st quarter.
Chris Wilcox (6 points, 4 rebounds) played some high energy basketball.
