I often wonder what opposing teams, their beat reporters and bloggers are saying about the Celtics after playing the Celtics. Here's a dose of 'enemy chatter' from Milwaukee.
Sanders had a solid Larry Sanders game: some defense, seven rebounds, a few tip-ins. But in the second quarter, he had the perfect reaction to a typical Kevin Garnett head-game/stunt.
Headed to a timeout, Sanders and Garnett crossed paths on the court, but Sanders was looking elsewhere and Garnett made a point to walk straight through Sanders’ shoulder and jolt him. Larry countered with a measured response. He didn’t go nuts and start a fight. He didn’t walk away as a flustered victim. Instead, he reached out a long arm and turned Kevin’s shoulder toward him as if to say, “Hey, I’m here and I’m paying attention now. Knock it off.”
The refs got the call correct, too, doling out a double technical instead of solely penalizing Larry’s reaction.
I haven't had the chance to look at the replay so I'm not 100% convinced Garnett targeted Sanders. Given the history of both players, this sounds like vintage KG.
Mike Gorman complemented the official for diffusing the situation, but he did so by handing out double-technicals. I HATE double-techs. They're a crutch for officials who don't have the balls to find the instigator.
On Page 2, the difference between Rajon Rondo and Brandon Jennings.
Both Jennings and Rondo had eight assists and two turnovers at one point.
That is where the comparisons end. Rondo controlled Boston’s offense, manipulated and moved through the Bucks defense, took chances and set his teammates up. Brandon Jennings passed the ball. That’s what he did. He dribbled the ball up the court and then he passed it. On rare occasions, he shot it. For a brief period in the fourth quarter, he looked great. Back-to-back threes always get our hopes up with Jennings.
Otherwise he did what every point guard in the D-League and every point guard that plays on a major college basketball team could have done. Meanwhile, Rondo finished with a triple double. Remember when there was some conversation about which one of them was an All-Star?
It's sad when opposing bloggers heap more praise on Rajon Rondo than half the fans/readers on this site.
