The Matchup
Last time
Boston and Philadelphia have yet to meet this season. The Celtics won three of four matchups in 2010-11.
This time
Get it to: Kevin Garnett or Brandon Bass
This depends on how Philadelphia defends. With Spencer Hawes out, the 76ers may start either Lavoy Allen or Nikola Vucevic at the 5. They're playing Elton Brand at the 4. Neither Allen or Vucevic are defensive stalwarts. Get it to whomever they're guarding.
Gotta stop: Lou Williams
The Sixers top reserve is their leading scorer. He's an extremely streaky player. Great at drawing fouls and possesses a strong up fake, according to scouting reports. Avery Bradley and/or Keyon Dooling will have to play smart, aggressive defense on Williams.
The Wild Card: Paul Pierce vs Andre Iguodala
This is going to be a great match-up. Iguodala is an elite defender. Pierce has been more aggressive lately on offense, imposing his will on games. The player who gets the best of this match-up might come out a winner.
How we see it goin' down
This is a BIG game. Why else would I break out the vintage photos? The division lead is on the online. Both teams play great defense. Philly is a young, athletic team that has cooled off (2-8) after a hot start. The Celtics have a 5 game winning streak.
I have geniune concerns about the Celtics energy level. This will be their 3rd game in 4 nights. The last two games have gone into overtime. I really want to see the Celtics play with attitude and show Philly they aren't dead yet but…
Prediction: 76ers 94 Boston 81
