Your Morning Dump… KG wants the trade crap over

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

“A lot of things are going on,” Rivers said. “Number one, our team is really close right now. You can feel the spirit. They knew they were struggling. Early [in the year] they would have been upset with each other. You could see one guy mess up and play and everyone had resolve. They just got over it instead of getting on guys.”

Garnett called it the “Madison Square Garden play,” as in the walk-off. He made 11 of 15 shots and for the second night in a row, he took and made the biggest shot of the game. Like Rivers, he feels things are starting to come together.

“I will concur to that,” Garnett said. “This year has been a rollercoaster. Filled with all types of episodes in it. But through all that we’ve banded together and put some wins together and played some decent basketball.”

WEEI – Celtics hope to stick around through deadline

The trade deadline is wearing everyone down this year. I love a good rumor, but I can't take any more speculation involving the Big 3 and Rajon Rondo.

Garnett's quote about wanting the trade crap to pass is near the end of the video clip. If a guy as mentally tough as KG indicates that it's a distraction, then it's a distraction.

I like what Doc Rivers says about the team coming together. You would assume a team with a core of veteran leaders wouldn't have trust issues, but it happens.

I don't have unrealistic expectations for this team. But if Danny Ainge can add another big (see Page 2), then I would enjoy watching them throw haymakers in the playoffs.

On Page 2, J.J. Hickson is on the Celtics radar.

Hickson

Sam Amico, a reporter for Fox Sports, didn't specify what the Kings would want in return, but he did say Keyon Dooling's salary is a match.

J.J. Hickson is having a tough season in Sacramento. He's shooting only 37%. He's also missed the last 6 games with a hip pointer.

But the Celtics need big bodies, and if they can land Hickson for Dooling, I'd do it.
