Jackie MacMullan was just on WEEI talking Celtics, and one thing that she said that immediately caught everyone's attention was Ray Allen's sore left ankle, which has cost him the last two games. She said "It's going to be an ongoing concern" and that it "will need to be fixed at some point."
I'm not sure exactly what that means about the extent of Ray's injury. He played on the left ankle since the injury, but it recently started to give him problems again.
Ray has had a history of ankle injuries. Take a look at this story from April of 2007:
Allen had been bothered by the ankle since early February, but didn't reveal the injury until March 1.
Nevertheless, after sitting out on March 1, Allen scored at least 22 points in each of the next seven games. But he sat down for good after struggling in a game March 18 in Portland.
Don't those two circumstances now sound eerily similar?
I'm not sure if this is as bad as those injuries were. But I'm not liking what I'm seeing. Hopefully this is something he can play with for now and just get cleaned up in the offseason.
