Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
Mickael Pietrus underwent a basketball workout at the Celtics’ practice facility and suffered no setbacks on his road back from the concussion he suffered two and a half weeks ago.
Pietrus passed the first of his baseline tests in the last few days and will have his next exam tomorrow.
If all goes well, there is a chance he could play again before the end of the regular season, but it is at least looking solid as of now that he will be ready for the playoffs.
Herald – All is well in Pietrus workout
More great news about Mickael Pietrus. In a perfect world, Pietrus will continue to practice, pass his tests, play a few regular season games and be ready for the playoffs.
The Celtics have overcome a lot of adversity (injuries and health conditions) this year. But if they are going to raise a ruckus in the playoffs, they will need Mickael Pietrus. His defense against LeBron James, Luol Deng and Danny Granger is critical. And there’s always the offensive boost he provides off the bench.
On Page 2, the Celtics will take a European vacation.
The Herald has learned the club will hold training camp and play exhibition games in Istanbul and Milan in the fall.
Sources have confirmed that, barring any logistical problems overseas, the Celts will hold workouts and face European teams in both sites. There are still some contracts to be signed, but at present the C’s will play in Turkey on Oct. 5, and in Italy on Oct. 7.
Team president Danny Ainge had no comment on the matter when it was presented to him yesterday, but it appears as though coach Doc Rivers will get his wish of going away for camp. Rivers always has spoken of his fondness of taking his team away from the familiar surroundings in the Boston area so the players can bond.
Very cool.
The players on the 2008 championship team almost always speak highly of the training camp in Rome. It looks like Doc Rivers wants to recapture some of that magic.
