It looks like Colin Kaepernick is one step closer to becoming the new starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos, after ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Saturday that both teams “have a trade in principle” that’s all dependent on Kap’s contract.
While 49ers head coach Chip Kelly expressed interest in working with Kaepernick, apparently the feeling wasn’t so much mutual between the quarterback and ownership.
Rumors abounded that the Browns and Jets were interested, but neither story really gained traction. With Denver however, there is a legitimate interest. Despite trading for Mark Sanchez, the Broncos still want another QB- which begs the question, why even add Sanchez in the first place then?
Sanchez could just be trade bait in a deal with the 49ers since the Eagles probably weren’t going to make any deals with their former head coach, but that remains to be seen.
In the meantime, a trade is only good until it’s complete, so we wait and see. Kaepernick is a 49er right now, but could become a Denver Bronco at anytime.
