The NL Central is cray.
The Cubs have the third best record in MLB. The Cubs have the third best record in the NL Central.

The Cardinals magic number only dropped to 8 last night after posting their 3rd straight win and 95th on the season with 11 games remaining.
Why?
Because the Pirates won their 4th straight and the Cubs won their 2nd straight. At this point, the NL Central isn’t good. It’s historically great. From CBS Sports:
At their current paces, the Cardinals would win 102 games, the Pirates 97 and the Cubs 95. There are some head-to-head battles in there, but it’s possible that’s where things end up. In fact, if the Cardinals, Pirates and Cubs do hold onto the top three records in baseball, it would be the first time in history a division has pulled it off.
97 wins and you finish 5 games back? That would be some brutal baseball luck for the Bucs.
Reds fans, meanwhile, are wondering if taking that Houston Astros deal they got moving divisions and whatnot is still something that the Commish would consider.
NL Central now four heavy analytics front offices. And the Reds.

The Cardinals have the Reds for one more, then the Brewers at home for 4. Meanwhile the Cubs and Pirates will face off this weekend in Chicago to (probably) determine which city ‘gets’ to host a 1 game playoff whose winner will ‘get’ to face the Cardinals in the NLDS.
You know, unless the Pirates sweep the Cubs and then sweep the Cardinals in which case the Cardinals could fall all the way to 3rd place and be in Wrigley for a one game showdown if they don’t take care of business against the aforementioned Brewers.
Freaking love this time of year.
