AAC football fans, start familiarizing yourself with the Sun Belt Conference.
Starting in 2015, teams from the American Athletic and Sun Belt Conferences will be matched up in two new bowl games.
The Cure Bowl in Orlando, and a yet-to-be-named bowl game in Austin, Texas, will each showcase the AAC vs. Sun Belt, unless one of those conferences can’t provide enough bowl eligible teams.
Based on the bureaucratic structure of “small” bowl games, go ahead and assume that geography will play a big part in which AAC and SBC teams are shipped to these new bowls.
So if you’re SMU, Houston, South Florida, or UCF, just reach six wins each season to secure a lifetime supply of bowl appearances.
